The new Severn Wye Ministry Area brings together our 12 local Anglican churches.

Two are town churches in Chepstow, and the other 10 are situated in the beautiful rural villages within the area. Our churches are working together to share our Christian lives, and to serve our Christian communities and with them the whole community in this area.

You will find details of all our beautiful church buildings, their histories, and their services and other events and activities, here on our website.

Please come and join us! You will always be most welcome in any of our churches. Our services range from sung Eucharist to informal coffee church - details are given here, as are contact details for the people who work and serve within the Ministry Area and in individual churches. Remember, anyone and everyone is always welcome. If you would like to know more, please get in touch with any of us.

The Ministry Area is a Registered Charity (No: 1203570). As Anglicans, our churches fall within the Archdeaconry of Monmouth in the Diocese of Monmouth, which is part of the Church in Wales. Our national church forms one of the many provinces in the global Anglican Communion, which stretches over 165 countries worldwide.

Safeguarding

The leadership of The Severn Wye Ministry Area, along with the wider Church in Wales, its Archbishop, Bishops, clergy and leaders, are committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church.

Safeguarding means preventing harm to children and adults at risk by protecting them from abuse or neglect. We are committed to:

  • promoting the wellbeing of children and adults at risk
  • raising awareness of safeguarding within the Church
  • working to prevent abuse or harm from occurring
  • seeking to protect and respond well to those that have been abused

We adhere to the Provincial Safeguarding Policy of the Church in Wales.

If you have a safeguarding concern

If anyone has safeguarding concerns relating to Children or Vulnerable Adults within The Severn Wye Ministry Area it is vital that these are shared at the earliest possible opportunity with the Provincial Safeguarding Team.

The Provincial Safeguarding Officer for this Diocese is Fay Howe.

In an emergency call 999 immediately, then contact the Provincial Safeguarding Officer at the earliest possible opportunity.

Ministry Area Safeguarding Committee

The Ministry Area established a Safeguarding Team in January 2024 to ensure that all our events, services and other activities comply with Safeguarding guidelines. They will responsible for ensuring people needing it are DBS checked and that the various leaders have the correct level of safeguarding training.

They are not responsible for handling disclosures or concerns, please contact the Provincial Team above.
